The rolled oats we know today as Uncle Toby’s Oats began with the name John Bull Oats within a company called Parsons Bros.

The first ‘advertisements’ for the rebranded Uncle Toby’s Oats appeared in the year the name was born.  Brisbane Courier – 30 June 1893

In the Alexandra and Yea Standard, Gobur, Thornton and Acheron Press – 18 Sept 1903, this promotion was a reassurance of their freshness.

Uncle Toby’s Rolled Oats is an Australian manufacture.  It is made each day and each packet dated, so that there’s no palming off on you of old, musty sea-carried meal.  Try it.

Fifty years on, it was a breakfast staple.  Australian Women’s Weekly – 7 September 1955
